Two St Albans Hockey Club players scored for Great Britain in a 5-1 victory against South Korea in the World League Finals in Argentina on Saturday.
Hannah Macleod and Ellie Watton both beat the goalkeeper in a dominant performance by the British team, who rounded off a disappointing tournament in style as they finished seventh in the eight-team event.
Britain had been expected to challenge for a medal having secured Olympic qualification and winning European gold – as England – earlier this year, but they were beaten 2-1 by New Zealand in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
After Nicola White had opened the scoring, Watton netted into an unguarded goal after being set up by a dazzling dribble from Alex Danson.
Danson also set up Macleod to score with a neat flick before White’s second and Helen Richardson-Walsh completed Britain’s tally.
