Sally Griffiths and Dave Kiff won the St Albans Club Open Australian Pairs competition at the weekend. The pair overcame finalists Eileen Englebright and Barbara Davis along with 12 other teams and were presented with the Millennium Cup by President Rod Perks.

The midweek men edged to a 106-105 win over Hemel Hempstead. The top rink was Paddy Boyle, Colin Smith and Neville Simons (21-9).

Townsend Ladies joined forces with St Albans to play against the St Albans & District Ladies Bowling Association. Townsend Ladies played triples while St Albans played rinks. St Albans only lost their three rinks 62-59 and their top team was Betty Lawrence, Brenda Pitkin, Tricia Gascoine and Sybil Steers (26-15).

The Ladies lost 45-38 to Hatfield despite their top rink being Linda Burfield, Maggie Kendrick and Englebright (28-17).
