St Albans Hockey Club men’s first team were promoted after finishing second in their England Super 6s indoor hockey league.
The side picked up wins against Fareham (6-5), Harleston (7-3) and Ashmoor (8-4) at the weekend. The league position has secured promotion for the team into Division One next year.
The club had further success with their mixed outdoor team who beat Essex University 15-0 in the first round of the Mixed Cup on Sunday.
Emily Panniers, Hayley Payne (2), Scott Apps (2), Simon Clapham, Josh Rose (3), Andy Tyler (3), Maddie Davies (2) and Ranjit Sehmbi all scored.
In league news, the ladies firsts drew 1-1 in a friendly with Buckingham while a goal from Jo Martin also led to a 1-1 draw for the ladies seconds against Old Loughtonians.
The thirds beat West Herts 5-1 while the fourths won 1-0 against Saffron Walden.
The men's seconds won 4-2 against Guildford.
St Albans thirds won 3-2 against Surbiton and there was a 4-2 victory against Vauxhall for the fourths.
The men’s sixths successfully fought hard for three points against Bedford and came away with a 3-2 win.
St Albans men’s sevenths drew 3-3 with Berkhamsted, the men’s eighths won 5-1 against MBDA and the Praetorians won 3-2 against Surbiton.
