FULHAM have been given 48 hours to sign Andrew Johnson.
The striker’s move is still on hold despite the two clubs agreeing a £10million fee, which could rise to £13m.
Johnson agreed terms but a medical discovered a possible problem with a knee injury picked up while he was at Crystal Palace.
As a result Fulham attempted to renegotiate, a decision which infuriated the Everton board.
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson wants the player at Craven Cottage but the club's board now wants to pay less.
Hodgson said: "He will be a very good signing if we can do it. I would expect the deal to be done this week.
"If we can get Johnson alongside Bobby Zamora, with the midfield we've got, we look a stronger team than last season."
But Everton are ready to pull the plug on the deal if the Craven Cottage side drags its heels any further.
